Welcome to our second annual Maya Color Run! The run will begin at the
Maya Angelou Elementary School parking lot on
October 15th, 2016.
We use the term "run" pretty loosely; participants are welcome to run,
walk, crawl or hop along the course. Checkin will begin at
10am and the run will start at
11am.
We'll have fun music to listen to while you wait, followed by a crowd
warmup led by Strong Foundations. Once the run begins, the real fun
starts! Along the route, you'll encounter 4 color stations where you'll
be sprayed with color powders. If you want your colors to stand out, we
recommend that you wear something white—like the official
Maya Color Run t-shirt!
(Don't worry, the color powder is corn starch based and will wash out
of most fabrics.) Once you've finished the race, you'll end your fun at
the carnival! We've invited community businesses to provide fun
activities for the kids. There will be bounce houses, a dunk tank,
cotton candy, and food truck vendors. Be sure to invite everyone—this is
a community event!
How to register
Early registration is $5 per person (adult or child) and ends on
October 8th.
After October 8th, registration is $10 per person. We encourage you to
register online if possible. If you aren't able to register online, you
can register at Maya Angelou Elementary School.
How are donations used?
Great question! 100% of the money earned from the Color Run goes to
the Maya Angelou PTO to help pay for the PTO programs. Our new
curriculum adopted by the Pasco School District includes the use of
smart boards, so this year we're earning money to buy smart boards for
the 1st-grade and Kindergarten classrooms. We need 10 more smart boards,
so our goal is to earn at least $12,000. The PTO has purchased smart
boards for over 26 classrooms at Maya Angelou since 2010. Thank you for
helping us reach our goal!
Student prizes
If you are registering or donating on behalf of a Maya student, be
sure to mention their name in the registration form below. Students will
receive prizes based on how much they raise!
